It’s that time of year folks! Tulip time. In the county where I live, we have a tulip festival that runs the entire month of April. That said, the blooms happen according to Mother Nature’s schedule. This year, spring came a good 3 weeks early to our area. And the blooms were about 2+ weeks early. As I write this, the festival is coming to a close, although the blooms finished their triumphant displays over a week ago. Enjoy!
Just a quick note: click on any photo and it will open the entire photo. You will also be able to click on left or right arrows to scroll through all of the photos in that gallery. There is an “X” at the top, left to close the gallery.
Here is a local display garden, where they plant about 300,000 bulbs every year. In the fall, all the bulbs are dug up and new ones are planted for next spring. They do a wonderful job.
Here are individual types of blooms highlighted.
Finally, here are photos of fields of tulips.
Which are your favorite photos?

So beautiful!!! I love the photo with the barn…but I love them all!
Thanks for visiting. I need to do more photo blogging. You’re site is inspiring me!
Gorgeous!!!!!!!!! Near me, in Holland, MI, is the annual Tulip Festival. Started this weekend 🙂

Thanks MJ. I’m envious that your festival is just beginning! Enjoy!
Susan these are all stunning! Such timing… I have a post in my drafts, that I worked on Wed and Thurs, about our area and tulips!! Your photos are much more extensive and amazing than mine– just spectacular!
Oh! The yellow tulip photo, looking up at them, is my favorite… but they’re all great!!
Thanks Dawn. When I get over to the flowers I usually take over a hundred shots over several hours. It’s truly my zen. Looking forward to your post as well!
Me too!!! Love it when they’re out… this year, I got the snow geese too. Gorgeous.
Well, duh. My favorite is the photo with you!
But my next favorites were looking up at the yellow tulips, and the red tulips at sunset, and the American Flag tulips.
May I borrow a tulip photo or two for a Words for the Year post sometime this month? (With a linkback of course?)
Love this post sooo much! -christy
Glad you popped by! The photo of me was taken by a man who was there with his wife and 2 young sons. Mom was taking photos of the rest of the family when I offered to take some with the entire family. There are too many times when one of the parents take on the primary roll of family photographer, and there are no pictures of them.
Ever since I heard about a young mother who had been the family photographer, and who passed away leaving almost no photos of herself for her children to remember her by, I try to make sure I have pictures of me, not just my kid and husband.
And yes, by all means, use any of these photos you want. Looking forward to your post.
So true. And funny in the age of selfies, I still have to remind myself to get in some of my photos. But pix of the dogs? I have a zillion! I love looking at old family photos, it’s a gift that lives on long after we’re gone. Thanks for helping me remember that. (And thanks for the permission!)
That is insane. I am in awe! I love tulips 🙂
Thanks Sara. It’s so weird to think that you’re into fall now, and we’re gearing up for summer. The Internet sure makes the globe small at times.
It does 🙂

I almost missed this! Thank goodness Christy sent me over your direction. LOVE these photos, Susan. xo
Thank you! Taking them is truly my zen.

It’s that time of year again! When our local Tulip Festival is in swing. I love the festival for the flowers, but there are a ton of activities going on in the valley as well. The blooms this year are a bit behind, but in the next few weeks will be looking like these that I captured a few years ago. Because of circumstances beyond my control, I don’t know if I’ll get over to the flowers to capture shots like these this year, so enjoy!
They are GORGEOUS! We’re having a snowstorm!!!
Thanks, and stay warm. Hope you don’t lose power.
We got a few inches of the white stuff but it’s melting! I can’t tell you how many times we’ve had snow days on the 11th. It’s my birthday, so I remember quite a few!
Happy Birthday!!
Thanks, Susan!
