Along my journey, I have been introduced to a few types of holistic healing methods. My history of health care, as a child, was very traditional, conservative, and mainstream. My father was a classically trained physician, who took us kids for all our healthcare, to the medical building where he practiced. I had no experience in my youth with any form of alternative, holistic, naturopathic, or homeopathic healthcare.
Since settling down here in the Pacific Northwest, I have used a variety of alternative healthcare methods (as well as traditional medicine). Two holistic healing methods that I’ve used, and feel don’t get enough press, are hypnosis and energy therapy. To be fair, I’m new to energy therapy, but I’m a believer.
Hypnosis
I have used hypnosis to help with weight loss. The first person I worked with, specialized in past life regression, and weight loss wasn’t her forte. However, I had a handful of sessions with her that were more than interesting. The next time I used hypnosis was taking a Hypnobirthing class. That was fantastic. Years later, I worked with two other hypnotists, specifically for weight loss. The first is definitely the topic of an upcoming blog. And the second one is a man I worked with the most recently. I have had some lasting success working with him, and had an unexpected result of some incredible, spiritual experiences. While working with him, I hit a point where something was keeping me from continuing to lose weight. After a handful of sessions, during which, I had amazing spiritual awakenings, my weight loss plateaued.
Update 2015. I am still using hypnotherapy, but as a tool to dive into my subconscious mind, digging up emotional triggers and causes of physiological imbalance, and healing these things. I have experienced tremendous emotional healing, bringing much more peace into my heart. And I have experienced physical healing of diabetes and acid reflux.
For those who are not familiar with what hypnosis is, it is actually a wakeful state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility, with diminished peripheral awareness. During your daily state of being awake, you take in an amazing amount of information and experiences. Your conscious brain can only retain a fraction of it all. Your subconscious brain remembers all of it. I have learned that when I have a behavior that is unwanted, and yet there is something in me that keeps driving me to do it, that “something” is in my subconscious mind. If you find that you seem to lack willpower over something, it’s because your subconscious mind is driving you. Your subconscious mind affects more of your behavior that you ever knew. Hypnosis allows a person to access that subconscious belief or thought that is active and affects behavior. Once it is accessed, it can be changed in a moment. Hypnosis can be used to discover the birth of phobias, addictions, emotional triggers, and create real healing and change.
When you drive for a while, thinking about something, and then realize you have reached your destination without remembering the drive, that is a form of hypnosis.

Energy Therapy
About the time my weightloss stalled, for no apparent reason, I met a woman who practices energy therapy. I became curious about ET, and talked with a few people who know her well, and have had her work on them. I decided to meet with her for a free consultation, to see what energy therapy was about. In her own words, she “specializes in removing trapped emotions in individuals that have physical, mental and/or spiritual difficulties.” Energy Therapy is an alternative, holistic form of treatment for the body and mind, that works with your body’s energy to help it heal itself. There are a variety of forms of energy therapy, however, the method that my therapist uses removes negative energy from your body and replaces it with positive energy.
Our bodies are full of energy, both positive and negative. The negative energy in our bodies is often associated with negative emotions that have become trapped within ourselves and can cause physical pain, emotional struggles, and illness. By removing this negative energy of trapped emotions and replacing it with positive emotions, we can create an enviroment where we can heal ourselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The Energy Therapist guides you through this process.
A few other energy therapies that are more familiar to the general public, are chiropractic, accupuncture, massage therapy, and Reiki, just to name a few. In future blog posts I will go into more detail with my experiences. The posts will be categorized as holistic healing.
Since I wrote this page, I have begun to learn more about how my Energy Therapist does what she does. The book The Emotion Code, by Dr. Bradley Nelson, is the resource book that I am using, as I participate in a series of workshops given by my Energy Therapist. This book explains how the body is a field of energy, and that when disease and discomfort are present in the body, the field of energy becomes out of balance. Dr. Nelson shows how to use muscle testing to ask your body questions; and he uses magnets along with intention to release trapped negative emotions.
Reiki
Since creating this page, I have become a second degree Reiki Practitioner. What is Reiki? It is a form of healing where the practitioner lays hands on or slightly above a person. The practitioner asks the source of all universal energy (known as Ki in Japan) to pass through the energy center in the top of their head (crown chakra), down through their body, and out their hands, into the person being treated. The practitioner is a conduit for energy. Reiki treatments are very relaxing, and if the client is so inclined, real healing can take place.
Matrix Energetics
In December of 2012 I attended my first series of Matrix Energetics workshops, followed by another series in December 2013. Matrix Energetics is not defined as a healing modality, although it can help a person create healing in their life. It is referred to as a consciousness technology so as to not limit it’s potential. Defining it, putting it into a box, limits it. Matrix Energetics taps into infinite potential outcomes and realities, in order to create wanted change in our lives. From their website, “Matrix Energetics is a complete system of healing, self-care and transformation. It is a transferable and teachable phenomenon, powered by intent, which has a physical and observable effect every time.” Anyone can learn this.
I’ve been interested in Energy Therapy/Healing for some time now. I just can’t seem to find enough information on it though. I would love to hear more about your experiences on this subject.
If you do a search for Energy Therapy here at my blog, it will take you to entries I have made on the subject. Lots of the entries are updates.
Reiki followers seem to be growing in numbers. Good luck on your journey to help others.
Thank you. At this point, I’m working on my own healing primarily. At some point I’ll turn that focus outwards to helping others. Energy healing is powerful stuff! Thanks for reading.
Love, love, love my reiki!!! I am a master teacher and have been doing reiki for years. It becomes a way of life. Hypnosis is an awesome way to let go of limiting beliefs as is EFT. There is so much to explore and do in this world, so pleased that so many more people are opening themselves up to these opportunities. Thank you for spreading the word 🙂
Thanks for dropping by! I am a big fan of EFT as well, even though it’s not something I personally use much.
